Grade Breakdown

Attendance: Miss 3 classes lose 1 grade point, miss 4 you will not pass

Active participation in class labs, mini assignments, field trips (see below) and punctuality 10%

Timely Completion of Assignments: 65%:

  • Assignment 1: due 2/6 Presentation Artist Report 10%
  • Assignment 2: due 2/15 Preliminary Proposal & Individual Meetings 10%
  • Assignment 3: due 3/15 Generative Media Driver 10%
  • Assignment 4: due 4/5 Final Proposal and Critique 10%
  • Assignment 5: due 4/24-4/26 Final Critique 25%

FINAL: Timely Completion of Final Project for Presentation in an Exhibition 25%

NOTE: Missed or late assignments will result in the loss of associated percentage

Assignment 1: Artist Report -Due 2/6

Pick an artist or group working in the field of media and electronic art and prepare an audio-visual presentation for the class. Web sites, videos, and power point presentations are appropriate mediums for the presentation. They should be 5 to 10 minutes in length.

Assignment 2: Preliminary Proposal -Due 2/15

Written preliminary scope of work explaining and illustrating your proposed project for the final show following guidelines provided. We will analyze the proposed projects for feasibility and set up individual meetings to discuss the proposals during Week 6.

Assignment 3: Generative Media Driver -Due 3/15

Construct a sound or video patch that has unpredictable playback patterns that change over time. Media can be downloaded off the net or personally acquired. Advanced folks need to incorporate or eradicate the desk top and use both Jitter and MSP.

Assignment 4: Final Proposal -Due 4/5

Present materials ( drawings, written descriptions, working components) detailing your final project proposal to class.

Assignment 5: FINAL CRITIQUE Week of 4/24 4/26
